Description
Return capacity=mass*specificHeat and share=capacity/totalCapacity.
Thermal calculations distinguish absolute temperature from temperature change, and heat capacity from specific heat. An ideal-gas or expansion term also assumes a compatible unit system and a stated process or material model. Temperature-dependent properties, constraints, and real-gas effects can require a broader treatment.
Return capacity=mass*specificHeat and share=capacity/totalCapacity.
When to use this tool
Use Thermal Capacity Weight Share when you need this expansion, heat-capacity, or ideal-gas term under the stated material and process assumptions.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter mass, specificHeat, totalCapacity. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read capacity, share. Use the output convention below.
For nonnegative mass and specificHeat and positive totalCapacity require mass*specificHeat<=totalCapacity. Return capacity=mass*specificHeat and share=capacity/totalCapacity.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| mass | Mass in a consistent unit for the stated model. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| specificHeat | Specific Heat | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| totalCapacity | Total Capacity | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| capacity | Capacity | Required. Finite number. |
| share | Dimensionless share under the stated base; not a percentage numeral. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Capacity and totalCapacity must share energy-per-temperature units. The supplied total is not rebuilt, and phase transitions, temperature dependence, and heat transfer are omitted.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use temperature-dependent properties or an appropriate equation of state when the ideal approximation is inadequate. Keep pressure-volume units compatible with the chosen gas constant and distinguish kelvin from temperature differences.
