Phosphor Band Count and Position Decoder

Decode independently observed phosphor band extents into count and normalized positions; no UV exposure advice. Caller independently verifies observations, reference edition, units and applicability; not a grading-service certificate, authentication, conservation treatment, actual market price or legal/insurance entitlement.

Description

Phosphor bands are strips whose position and width can be expressed relative to the stamp width.

Phosphor bands are strips whose position and width can be expressed relative to the stamp width.1

This decoder summarizes measured band geometry without identifying an issue from a universal band catalogue.

When to use Phosphor Band Count and Position Decoder

Use this tool when you need to summarize the supplied collecting records or matched observations. Prepare independently verified observations, reference edition/context, and matching units or currency basis.

How to use Phosphor Band Count and Position Decoder and understand its results

  1. Prepare independently verified observations, reference edition/context, and matching units or currency basis.
  2. Enter stampWidthMm, observedBandLeftEdgesMm, observedBandRightEdgesMm, following the field table and calculation rules below, then run the tool.
  3. Read bandCount, bandCenterFractions, bandWidthFractions. For result objects, inspect the nested output fields below, including any missing evidence or selected indices.
  4. Correct any input issues and run again. Before using a successful result, review its units, signs, evidence coverage, and stated model or reference assumptions.

Require positive stamp width and nonempty aligned left/right edge lists. Each left edge is nonnegative, each right edge exceeds its left and is at most the stamp width, and each next left is at least the previous right. Return count, center fractions, and width fractions; touching bands are accepted.

center_i=(left_i+right_i)/(2×stampWidth); widthFraction_i=(right_i−left_i)/stampWidth

Read these symbols with the field meanings and branch or reference rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

Observations, reference edition, and applicability are independently supplied. Arithmetic and reference summaries do not provide authentication, a certified grade, or an actual market price.

Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types, and violated calculation rules return input issues. Numeric values must be finite; nonfinite numeric outputs are rejected. Arrays must be dense, with no missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries, subject to smaller tool-specific bounds above.

Alternative or Complementary methods

For a related task, use Fluorescence Response UV Long-wave Classifier: Paper fluorescence under longwave ultraviolet illumination is a measured response that depends on the observation basis and reference conditions. This tool reads a supplied response curve at a query coordinate rather than identifying paper from a photograph. For a complementary step, use Watermark Inverted or Sideways Position Detector: A watermark may appear upright, inverted, sideways, or mirrored relative to the stamp design. This checker classifies a supplied rotation and keeps mirror information separate from whether the orientation was actually assessed.
