Perforation Variety Shift mm Significance Classifier
Compare measured perforation shift with caller issue-specific significance bands. Missing observations remain explicit. Caller independently verifies observations, reference edition, units and applicability; not a grading-service certificate, authentication, conservation treatment, actual market price or legal/insurance entitlement.
Description
A displaced perforation line can be compared with a reference band for significance review.
A displaced perforation line can be compared with a reference band for significance review.1
This classifier summarizes known offsets and missing assessments rather than authenticating a production variety.
When to use Perforation Variety Shift mm Significance Classifier
Use this tool when you need to review known observations against explicit inclusive bands. Prepare independently verified observations, reference edition/context, and matching units or currency basis.
How to use Perforation Variety Shift mm Significance Classifier and understand its results
- Prepare independently verified observations, reference edition/context, and matching units or currency basis.
- Enter observedPerfShiftMm, callerPerfShiftMmLower, callerPerfShiftMmUpper, knownPerfShiftMmFlags, following the field table and calculation rules below, then run the tool.
- Read signedKnownMargins, knownReviewIndices, unknownIndices. For result objects, inspect the nested output fields below, including any missing evidence or selected indices.
- Correct any input issues and run again. Before using a successful result, review its units, signs, evidence coverage, and stated model or reference assumptions.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| observedPerfShiftMm | Observed perf shift mm | list of number | Required |
| callerPerfShiftMmLower | Caller perf shift mm lower | list of number | Required |
| callerPerfShiftMmUpper | Caller perf shift mm upper | list of number | Required |
| knownPerfShiftMmFlags | Known perf shift mm flags; binary 1 means assessed and 0 means unknown. | list of number | Required |
Enter nonempty aligned observed values, caller lower/upper bounds, and binary known flags. Require lower≤upper for every row, even an unknown one. For a known value return min(value−lower, upper−value): positive inside, zero on a boundary, and negative outside. Only known values strictly outside the inclusive band enter knownReviewIndices. Unknown rows receive a zero placeholder and their separate unknownIndices, so an unknown zero margin is not passing evidence.
margin_i=known_i?min(observed_i−lower_i,upper_i−observed_i):0 Read these symbols with the field meanings and branch or reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| signedKnownMargins | Minimum signed distance to the two inclusive bounds for known observations; zero placeholder for unknown observations. | list of number |
| knownReviewIndices | Zero-based input positions that are known and strictly outside the inclusive reference band. | list of number |
| unknownIndices | Zero-based input positions without a known observation; inspect before interpreting zero placeholders. | list of number |

} Limitations and assumptions
The observation method, units, and appropriate bounds come from the supplied records. Unknown observations remain unassessed, and numeric band agreement does not authenticate an item or establish a certified grade.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types, and violated calculation rules return input issues. Numeric values must be finite; nonfinite numeric outputs are rejected. Arrays must be dense, with no missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries, subject to smaller tool-specific bounds above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related task, use Surcharge Value Digit Alignment Offset Checker: A surcharge’s placement can be compared with a reference alignment band. This checker summarizes supplied offsets and known flags without deciding whether the overprint is genuine or a collectible variety. For a complementary step, use Off-Center Shift Millimetre Measurer to Grade Mapper: Off-center design displacement can be related to a grade through a chosen grading reference. This mapper reads a supplied offset-to-grade calibration and retains its local slope rather than asserting a universal service grade.
