Booklet Panes Stitching Hole Pattern Counter
Count sorted observed stitching-hole position clusters with explicit start-anchored tolerance; not booklet authenticity. Caller independently verifies observations, reference edition, units and applicability; not a grading-service certificate, authentication, conservation treatment, actual market price or legal/insurance entitlement.
Description
Booklet stitch impressions can be grouped by their measured positions and a stated tolerance.
Booklet stitch impressions can be grouped by their measured positions and a stated tolerance.1
This counter reports group starts using a fixed-start grouping rule rather than joining every chain of nearby positions.
When to use Booklet Panes Stitching Hole Pattern Counter
Use this tool when you need to summarize the supplied collecting records or matched observations. Prepare independently verified observations, reference edition/context, and matching units or currency basis.
How to use Booklet Panes Stitching Hole Pattern Counter and understand its results
- Prepare independently verified observations, reference edition/context, and matching units or currency basis.
- Enter observedHolePositionsMm, coincidenceToleranceMm, following the field table and calculation rules below, then run the tool.
- Read distinctHoleCount, groupStartPositionsMm. For result objects, inspect the nested output fields below, including any missing evidence or selected indices.
- Correct any input issues and run again. Before using a successful result, review its units, signs, evidence coverage, and stated model or reference assumptions.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| observedHolePositionsMm | Observed hole positions mm | list of number | Required |
| coincidenceToleranceMm | Coincidence tolerance mm | number | Required |
Require a nonempty strictly increasing list of nonnegative positions and nonnegative tolerance. Start a group at the first position, and create another only when a position exceeds the most recent group start by more than tolerance. Equality stays in the group; return group starts and count.
newGroup when position−currentGroupStart>tolerance Read these symbols with the field meanings and branch or reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| distinctHoleCount | Distinct hole count | number |
| groupStartPositionsMm | Group start positions mm | list of number |

Observations, reference edition, and applicability are independently supplied. Arithmetic and reference summaries do not provide authentication, a certified grade, or an actual market price.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types, and violated calculation rules return input issues. Numeric values must be finite; nonfinite numeric outputs are rejected. Arrays must be dense, with no missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries, subject to smaller tool-specific bounds above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related task, use Imprint Block Presence Bottom Margin Checker: An imprint block includes printed marginal information that must be observed relative to an expected format. This checker compares supplied evidence requirements and returns compatible and fully witnessed classes separately. For a complementary step, use Killer Bar Wave Count Decoder: Killer bars and waves are features of cancellation markings whose counts can be recorded as observations. This counter validates and returns supplied counts; it does not find marks in an image.
