Petroleum Fracture Pressure Calculator
Extract actual independently identified fracture-indicator pressure crossings from already completed records, no fracture test instructions, required injection or safe formation pressure. Caller independently verifies units, applicability and matching conditions; no operational recipe, safety certification, causal efficacy or legal/resource classification is inferred.
Description
A fracture indicator recorded during a completed pressure test can cross an independently chosen criterion more than once.
A fracture indicator recorded during a completed pressure test can cross an independently chosen criterion more than once.1
This tool reports all crossings of supplied measurements without establishing a safe pressure or prescribing a test.
When to use Petroleum Fracture Pressure Calculator
Use this tool when you need to locate all observed criterion crossings on a matched measurement branch. Prepare completed matched measurements, SI or explicitly stated oilfield units, and independent evidence for the selected branch or calibration.
How to use Petroleum Fracture Pressure Calculator and understand its results
- Prepare completed matched measurements, SI or explicitly stated oilfield units, and independent evidence for the selected branch or calibration.
- Enter observedAlreadyCompletedPressureTestPa, observedFractureIndicatorMetric, callerIndependentlyEstablishedFractureIndicatorThreshold, following the field table and calculation rules below, then run the tool.
- Read observedFractureCriterionCrossingsPa. For result objects, inspect the nested output fields below, including any missing evidence or selected indices.
- Correct any input issues and run again. Before using a successful result, review its units, signs, evidence coverage, and stated model or reference assumptions.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| observedAlreadyCompletedPressureTestPa | Observed already completed pressure test pa; pressure or stress in pascals, with the sign convention described above. | list of number | Required |
| observedFractureIndicatorMetric | Observed fracture indicator metric | list of number | Required |
| callerIndependentlyEstablishedFractureIndicatorThreshold | Caller independently established fracture indicator threshold | number | Required |
Require positive increasing pressure samples, aligned finite signed indicator values, and a nonnegative criterion. Apply the all-crossings helper, retaining exact sample hits and interpolated crossings in pressure order. The indicator is not constrained to a phase fraction.
Require at least two nonempty aligned finite coordinate/response samples with coordinates strictly increasing. Record every exact sample hit and interpolate adjacent strict sign changes around the criterion; preserve coordinate order and remove adjacent duplicate crossings. No crossing returns an empty list, and an exact-level plateau retains its sampled coordinates. Responses need not be monotone unless the particular tool additionally requires it. No unique preferred crossing is selected.
crossing=x_i+(x_(i+1)−x_i)×(criterion−y_i)/(y_(i+1)−y_i) for strict sign changes Read these symbols with the field meanings and branch or reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |

| observedFractureCriterionCrossingsPa | Observed fracture criterion crossings pa; pressure or stress in pascals, with the sign convention described above. | list of number |

The criterion, phase or indicator identity, and observation regime are independently established inputs. A recorded crossing does not prescribe a test, establish an operating limit, or identify a unique physical transition beyond this measured branch.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types, and violated calculation rules return input issues. Numeric values must be finite; nonfinite numeric outputs are rejected. Arrays must be dense, with no missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries, subject to smaller tool-specific bounds above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related task, use Petroleum Leak Off Test Pressure Calculator: A completed leak-off test’s surface reading differs from a shoe-level pressure by gauge offset and hydrostatic contribution. This audit applies independently supplied corrections to observations already taken, without identifying leak-off from a trace. For a complementary step, use Petroleum Pore Pressure Prediction Calculator: The Eaton sonic relation estimates a pressure term from observed and normal sonic transit times under a supplied exponent. This calculator uses that particular ratio convention and independent reference pressures rather than certifying pore pressure.
