Description
Calculate radial clearance between a stem and a mulch-ring inner edge.
Garden-resource planning uses supplied geometry, material stocks, visit counts and accounting boundaries. Water elevation difference gives nominal head before losses, while a screened reject fraction uses the screened total. Local arithmetic does not establish plant compatibility, suitable animal care, drainage performance or a safe structural design.
Calculate radial clearance between a stem and a mulch-ring inner edge.
When to use this tool
Use Mulch Ring Clearance when you already have mulchInnerRadius, stemRadius and need to calculate radial clearance between a stem and a mulch-ring inner edge.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter mulchInnerRadius, stemRadius. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read radialClearance. Use the output convention below.
Require both radii>=0; return mulchInnerRadius-stemRadius.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| mulchInnerRadius | Mulch Inner Radius | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| stemRadius | Stem Radius | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| radialClearance | Radial Clearance | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Negative clearance is retained; the tool does not inspect a plant or select a horticulturally suitable clearance.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Measure actual site geometry and reconcile resource stocks, transfers and observation periods. For water delivery, account for the complete hydraulic path and losses; nominal head and local garden margins remain preliminary bookkeeping or geometry.
