Description
Compare supplied water mass on wet or dry material bases without processing guidance.
Garden and resource-design calculations combine measured lengths, areas, water volumes, material fractions, travel, and evidence records. A useful budget needs consistent units and clear overlap, exclusion, and denominator rules. Supplied geometry and efficiencies describe a model rather than verified site performance.
Compare supplied water mass on wet or dry material bases without processing guidance.
When to use this tool
Use Compost Batch Water Base Flag when you have supplied site dimensions or resource records and need the stated geometry, budget, or coverage measure.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter wetMass, waterMass, reportDryBasis. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read denominatorMass, waterRatio, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.
Require 0<=waterMass<=wetMass. Choose denominatorMass=wetMass-waterMass if reportDryBasis, otherwise wetMass; return waterRatio=waterMass/denominatorMass when positive, otherwise zero with defined=false.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| wetMass | Wet Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| waterMass | Water Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| reportDryBasis | Report Dry Basis | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| denominatorMass | Denominator Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| waterRatio | Water over wet or dry mass as selected; dry-basis values may exceed one. | Required. Finite number. |
| defined | Whether the associated denominator or quantity is defined; read before using a zero placeholder. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Dry-basis water ratios can exceed one, unlike wet-basis fractions. The undefined zero is a placeholder, and the moisture accounting does not assess compost condition or an appropriate water target.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified site measurements and suitable physical or resource models for a complete design. Check units, overlap, losses, capacity, and whether an accounting share represents the intended quantity.
