Description
Keep explicitly censored observations separate from missing sites.
Dental research records distinguish teeth, surfaces, sites, observations, exclusions, and reporting bases. Measurement resolution and missing observations affect interpretation differently. A chart token, site share, or measurement envelope can check supplied data without establishing a clinical finding.
Keep explicitly censored observations separate from missing sites.
When to use this tool
Use Periodontal Study Censored Site Mask when you need this site-record, denominator, label, image-scale, or measurement component for supplied research data.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter values, censored, missing. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read observedIndices, censoredIndices, missingIndices. Use the output convention below.
Require aligned values, censored, and missing arrays and reject any row marked both censored and missing. Return zero-based observedIndices where neither flag is set, plus separate censoredIndices and missingIndices.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Numeric values are not interpreted or imputed; annotations are supplied. A censored record remains different from a missing record, and the masks do not validate a measurement protocol or analysis model.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the intended examination or measurement protocol with verified site identities and source records. Broader interpretation requires actual observations and appropriate measurement properties beyond one token or ratio.
