XML Attribute Equality Delimiter Tool

Compute xml attribute equality delimiter from explicit bounded inputs.

Description

Return name, literal value, and quote.

XML distinguishes element and attribute names, entity references, processing instructions, and document-level rules. Quoting, entity expansion, namespaces, and Unicode name characters are separate concerns. A restricted token recognizer does not automatically provide a complete or validating XML parser.

Return name, literal value, and quote.

When to use this tool

Use XML Attribute Equality Delimiter when you need the stated restricted XML token decomposition without parsing or expanding a document.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter token. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read name, value, quote. Use the output convention below.

Accept an ASCII attribute name followed by optional spaces/tabs, =, optional spaces/tabs, and a single- or double-quoted value excluding the matching quote and less-than sign. Return name, literal value, and quote.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

valueValueRequired. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.
quoteLiteral quote delimiter, or supplied quotation text where stated.Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.

}

Limitations and assumptions

  • Entity references are preserved, not decoded, and whitespace is not normalized. The recognizer does not implement full Unicode XML names, namespace binding, entity validity, or every XML attribute constraint.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use an XML parser with appropriate document, namespace, character, and entity policies for complete validation. A local name or wrapper match does not replace those checks.
