Description
Recognize one outer angle-bracket pair and expose its inner text.
Text parsers operate on an explicit source grammar and boundary policy. Recognizing delimiters or removing one prefix is distinct from validating the surrounding document or protocol. Preserve whether an output represents raw source spelling or decoded text, especially where quoted empty values, ASCII escapes, case and whitespace affect interpretation.
Recognize one outer angle-bracket pair and expose its inner text.
When to use this tool
Use Markdown Autolink Delimiter Token when you already have text and need to recognize one outer angle-bracket pair and expose its inner text.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter text. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read enclosed, innerText. Inspect enclosed before interpreting the associated values.
If text starts with <, ends with > and has length>=2, return enclosed=true and remove exactly those two outer characters; otherwise preserve the text.1
CommonMark autolinks require a qualifying absolute URI or email form inside angle brackets. An outer-delimiter match alone does not satisfy that grammar.2
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| text | Text | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| enclosed | Only one matching outer delimiter pair; not full Markdown autolink validity. | Required. Boolean. |
| innerText | Inner Text | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
{
"input": {
"text": "\u003chttps://example.test/>"
},
"output": {
"enclosed": true,
"innerText": "https://example.test/"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- This is a delimiter check, not full Markdown autolink syntax, URL/email validation or HTML parsing; empty inner text is accepted.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a parser for the complete intended grammar and dialect when document validity matters. Keep source spelling, decoded values, quote/escape context and whitespace rules explicit; these helpers intentionally operate on one delimiter, prefix, field or protocol component.
