Description

Compute supplied research frame hop and first-to-last start span, excluding unspecified frame duration.

Voice and airflow research records use sample rates, frame windows, cycle boundaries, event clocks, unit conversions, and laterality labels. A data-support fraction or signed difference has a specific convention and denominator. These calculations operate on supplied records rather than an audio, respiratory, or vestibular examination.

Compute supplied research frame hop and first-to-last start span, excluding unspecified frame duration.

When to use this tool

Use Research Voice Frame Hop when you need this sample, frame, cycle, timing, airflow, or laterality component for supplied research records.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter hopSamples, sampleRateHertz, frameCount. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read hopSeconds, startToStartSpanSeconds. Use the output convention below.

For positive integer hopSamples, positive sampleRateHertz, and nonnegative integer frameCount return hopSeconds=hopSamples/sampleRateHertz and startToStartSpanSeconds=max(0,frameCount-1)*hopSeconds.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The span runs from the first frame start to the last, excluding frame duration. Zero and one frame both give zero span, and no audio framing or voice assessment is carried out.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated acquisition and a documented signal-analysis or assessment protocol when a local conversion is insufficient. Verify sample rate, frame boundaries, clock corrections, and record annotations.
