Description

Project a supplied bench axis component with explicit sign conventions; no limb alignment diagnosis.

Orthopedic bench and imaging records combine force, displacement, geometric dimensions, coordinate frames, weights, and reference measurements. An ideal material term or dimensional margin depends on its model and units. It does not by itself establish implant compatibility, tissue behavior, or safe clinical loading.

Project a supplied bench axis component with explicit sign conventions; no limb alignment diagnosis.

When to use this tool

Use Limb Axis Plane Projection Sign when you need this bench, geometry, reference, score-denominator, or measurement term from supplied data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter axisComponent, suppliedProjectionCosine, reversePlaneNormal. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read projectedComponent. Use the output convention below.

Require suppliedProjectionCosine within -1 through one. Return projectedComponent=axisComponent*cosine with sign reversed if reversePlaneNormal.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The cosine is dimensionless, not an angle. The result retains axisComponent's unit; no plane is fitted, coordinate registration performed, or anatomical alignment inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete material, imaging, or assessment model for the intended question. Verify measurement units, calibration, load conditions, geometry, missingness, and reference assumptions before combining terms.
