Langmuir Cell Spacing Wind Estimate Calculator
Piecewise-linear caller-reference interpolation only: actual site, mixed-layer depth, wave state and independently measured wind/cell-spacing calibration, not a universal Langmuir law. No extrapolation, causal simulation, safe-use approval or universal prediction.
Description
Interpolate Langmuir-cell spacing within a supplied, qualified wind-speed table.
Langmuir-cell spacing observations can be tabulated against wind speed for a particular measurement context. This tool interpolates within a caller-supplied qualified table instead of asserting a universal wind-to-spacing relationship.
When to use this tool
Interpolate Langmuir-cell spacing within a supplied, qualified wind-speed table. Use it when the input measurements and conventions below match the operation you need.
- Prepare callerVerifiedSource, callerVerifiedContext, callerVerifiedAsOfDate, observedWindMPerS, qualifiedCellSpacingM, query, respecting the measurement basis and boundaries below.
- Compare the worked example with your intended operation before reusing its result.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter every field in the input table using the stated units and exact supported selector spelling where applicable.
- Run the tool. Correct input errors before interpreting an output.
- Read the result fields below; use accompanying flags and the stated sign, boundary or model convention when interpreting a number.
Supply the independently checked source, context and valid date, together with aligned wind-speed and spacing lists. Wind-speed knots must be strictly increasing with at least two entries. The tool linearly interpolates between neighboring knots at the query wind speed, including endpoints, and rejects extrapolation.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- The source is recorded, not fetched or authenticated. Wave state, stratification and measurement conditions must already match the table; interpolation does not establish a physical prediction outside that evidence.
- Every declared field is required and unexpected fields are rejected. Numeric inputs must be finite; input errors are distinct from a valid false result or an explicitly qualified output.
- Extremely large inputs and nonfinite or excessively large outputs are rejected. List positions reported by the tool use zero-based indices unless stated otherwise.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Compare the result with independently checked observations or a model that covers the omitted dynamics. Use compatible frames, units and sampling conventions when carrying the value into another calculation. Compare the scope of the nearby tools below before substituting one.
