Description

Count supplied records under an explicit study definition.

Pregnancy and birth research records distinguish observed and estimated values, dating anchors, day coordinates, time precision, clock offsets, and source permissions. A notation conversion or interval comparison does not determine a clinical date or validate consent. The supplied reference convention and uncertainty need to remain visible.

Count supplied records under an explicit study definition.

When to use this tool

Use Obstetric Research Pregnancy Count Definition Tag when you need this supplied research age, date, interval, clock, provenance, or record-rule calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter completedPregnancies, ongoing, includeOngoing, definition. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read count, includesCurrent, definition. Inspect includesCurrent before interpreting the associated values.

For nonnegative integer completedPregnancies and nonempty definition return count=completed plus one only when ongoing and includeOngoing, includesCurrent as that conjunction, and the unchanged definition label.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The label is not checked against a parity or gravidity standard. The calculation does not infer outcomes, multiple births, clinical history, or which pregnancy-count definition is appropriate.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified dates and sources together with the intended research or clinical assessment process. Check dating anchors, clock conventions, uncertainty, and whether a supplied reporting rule is appropriate for the question.
