Beta Alpha Ratio Calculator
Actual qualified band powers quotient from supplied uniform PSD centers×width, half open MNE bands alpha8–12, theta4–8, beta12–30Hz. No FFT, clinical interpretation or missing frequency extrapolation.
Description
A beta-to-alpha power ratio depends on explicit band boundaries and a supplied spectrum.
A beta-to-alpha power ratio depends on explicit band boundaries and a supplied spectrum.1
This tool sums uniform PSD bins in half-open 12–30 Hz and 8–12 Hz bands without performing spectral estimation.
When to use Beta Alpha Ratio Calculator
This tool sums uniform PSD bins in half-open 12–30 Hz and 8–12 Hz bands without performing spectral estimation.
How to use Beta Alpha Ratio Calculator and how it works
- Prepare uniform frequency centers hz, psd, bin width hz, using the input definitions and matching units below.
- Enter the required fields and run Beta Alpha Ratio Calculator.
- Read result.actualBandPowerRatio using the units, signs and ordering explained below.
- Correct any rejected inputs and rerun; interpret the result within the stated model and its assumptions.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| actualUniformFrequencyCentersHz | Nonnegative strictly increasing PSD bin centers with adjacent spacing matching bin width. | array of number | Required; other constraints below |
| actualPsd | Nonnegative power spectral density samples aligned with frequency centers; units of power per Hz. | array of number | Required; other constraints below |
| actualBinWidthHz | Positive common bin width in Hz used to integrate the supplied PSD. | number | Required; finite; other constraints below |
Require aligned nonempty frequency centers and PSD arrays with nonnegative entries and positive bin width in Hz. Centers must strictly increase and adjacent spacing must match width within 1e-9 times max(1,width). Sum PSD times width for centers in each half-open band, and divide numerator band power by a strictly positive denominator band power. Theta is 4<=f<8, alpha 8<=f<12 and beta 12<=f<30 Hz; this tool's title sets their quotient order. Missing centers are not extrapolated, complete band coverage is not required, and no FFT, windowing or PSD estimation occurs.
bandPower[a,b)=sum(PSD_i*width where a<=center_i<b); ratio=numeratorBandPower/denominatorBandPower Apply the input ordering, units and branch conditions stated above.

The calculation uses the supplied observations and model inputs. It does not collect measurements, select a reference population or coefficient, or establish that the model applies to the actual case. The stated branch conditions and output units remain part of the result.
All fields require explicit values. Unexpected fields, wrong types, nonfinite numbers and sparse arrays are rejected. Alignment, bounds and supported-token rules are explained above; extremely large inputs or nonfinite results can also fail. Input errors differ from successful false comparisons, unavailable-domain flags and empty match lists.
