Description
Compute grossMinutes as end minus start.
Time-window accounting separates gross duration, overlap, pauses, and eligible exposure. A fraction is interpretable only when its numerator and denominator use compatible intervals and units.
Compute grossMinutes as end minus start.
When to use this tool
Use Dialysis Log Paused Active Time when you need to reconcile explicit durations or interval support.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter startMinutes, endMinutes, recordedPauses, overlapCorrection. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read grossMinutes, pauseUnionMinutes, activeMinutes. Use the output convention below.
Compute grossMinutes as end minus start. Subtract overlapCorrection from the sum of recordedPauses, then subtract this pause union from gross time.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| startMinutes | Start Minutes | Required. Finite number. |
| endMinutes | End Minutes | Required. Finite number. |
| recordedPauses | Recorded Pauses | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| overlapCorrection | Overlap Correction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| grossMinutes | Gross Minutes | Required. Finite number. |
| pauseUnionMinutes | Pause Union Minutes | Required. Finite number. |
| activeMinutes | Active Minutes | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The caller must already know overlapCorrection; pauses are durations rather than intervals and cannot be deduplicated automatically.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use timestamped intervals to calculate overlap unions when summed durations and supplied corrections are insufficient.
