Description
Subtract packagingMass from grossMass.
A product label can express an amount per serving, per package, or on a solvent-free basis. Changing the denominator changes the reported amount or fraction.
Subtract packagingMass from grossMass.
When to use this tool
Use Naturopathy Label Netmass Serving Count when you need to reconcile explicit label quantities or package counts.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter grossMass, packagingMass, servingMass, declaredServings. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read netMass, completeServings, remainder, declarationGap. Use the output convention below.
Subtract packagingMass from grossMass. Divide by positive servingMass, returning the floored completeServings, remainder, and count minus declaredServings.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| grossMass | Gross Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| packagingMass | Packaging Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| servingMass | Serving Mass | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| declaredServings | Declared Servings | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| netMass | Net Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| completeServings | Complete Servings | Required. Safe integer. |
| remainder | Remainder | Required. Finite number. |
| declarationGap | Declaration Gap | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Units must agree; a package's nominal serving count does not establish an appropriate amount to consume.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check the original label's units and basis; assess suitability or safety independently of label arithmetic.
