Historical Recipe Quote Fraction Tool

Record a fraction quoted by a caller-supplied historical source; not a formulation or use recommendation.

Description

Divide only when sourceKnown is true; otherwise return fraction zero and fractionDefined false.

Evidence bookkeeping records identifiers, reported methods, source editions, and supplied support flags. A complete-looking citation or matching record is different from evidence of a claim's validity.

Divide only when sourceKnown is true; otherwise return fraction zero and fractionDefined false.

When to use this tool

Use Historical Recipe Quote Fraction when you need a reproducible source or study-record consistency check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter quotedParts, quotedTotalParts, sourceKnown. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read fractionDefined, fraction. Inspect fractionDefined before interpreting the associated values.

Require 0 ≤ quotedParts ≤ positive quotedTotalParts. Divide only when sourceKnown is true; otherwise return fraction zero and fractionDefined false.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The unknown-source zero is a placeholder; historical proportions do not establish safe ingredients, dosage, or efficacy.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Read the original report and compare methods, outcomes, provenance, and uncertainty before assessing an evidence claim.
