Description
Multiply ordinary steps by stepLength and shortenedSteps by shortenedLength, then add both distances.
A counted-step distance is a sum of step counts multiplied by representative step lengths. It is a model of recorded movement rather than a position measurement.
Multiply ordinary steps by stepLength and shortenedSteps by shortenedLength, then add both distances.
When to use this tool
Use Ceremonial Step Count Distance Term when you need a simple distance term from supplied counts and lengths.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter steps, stepLength, shortenedSteps, shortenedLength. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read distance. Use the output convention below.
Multiply ordinary steps by stepLength and shortenedSteps by shortenedLength, then add both distances. Shortened steps cannot exceed total steps.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| shortenedSteps | Shortened Steps | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| shortenedLength | Shortened Length | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |

| distance | Distance | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Lengths must share a unit; the labels do not enforce that shortenedLength is actually smaller or estimate walking variability.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use measured travel distances or a calibrated observation protocol when precise movement estimates are needed.
