Description
For a width in 2-32 bits, return halfRange = 2^(bits - 1) and unambiguous when supplied delta is strictly below it.
Timer formulas depend on whether endpoints are inclusive, the count direction, prescaling, and wrap behavior. A counter reading alone cannot reveal an arbitrary number of elapsed wraps.
For a width in 2-32 bits, return halfRange = 2^(bits - 1) and unambiguous when supplied delta is strictly below it.
When to use this tool
Use Tick Counter Wrap Safe Half Range when you need a timer period, wrap delta, or explicit count-budget term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter bits, delta. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read halfRange, unambiguous. Inspect unambiguous before interpreting the associated values.

| delta | Delta | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| halfRange | Half Range | Required. Safe integer. |
| unambiguous | Unambiguous | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The exact half-range is ambiguous; no timestamps, wrap history, or clock units are inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
