EEPROM Round Robin Slot Offset
Map a zero-based write index to a fixed-size EEPROM slot using round-robin placement while leaving an incomplete trailing slot unused.
Description
Round-robin EEPROM placement spreads successive record writes among complete fixed-size slots.
Round-robin EEPROM placement spreads successive record writes among complete fixed-size slots. Any incomplete trailing slot remains unused.1
Map a zero-based write index to a fixed-size EEPROM slot using round-robin placement while leaving an incomplete trailing slot unused.
When to use EEPROM Round Robin Slot Offset
Use this tool to map a zero-based write index to a fixed-size EEPROM slot using round-robin placement while leaving an incomplete trailing slot unused.
Prepare the single firmware record, sampled digital states or effective timing/register parameters requested. Confirm byte order, bit numbering, units and device-specific limits before interpreting the calculation.
How to use EEPROM Round Robin Slot Offset and understand its results
- Prepare the single firmware record, sampled digital states or effective timing/register parameters requested. Confirm byte order, bit numbering, units and device-specific limits before interpreting the calculation.
- Enter memoryBytes, slotBytes, writeIndex using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read offsetBytes, slotIndex, slotCount. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| memoryBytes | Available EEPROM bytes. | integer; minimum: 1; maximum: 4294967295 | Required |
| slotBytes | Bytes per stored record. | integer; minimum: 1; maximum: 4294967295 | Required |
| writeIndex | Zero-based write sequence index. | integer; minimum: 0 | Required |
Enter positive integer memory/slot sizes and nonnegative integer write index. Require at least one slot; return slot count, zero-based selected slot and byte offset.
slots=floor(memoryBytes/slotBytes); index=writeIndex mod slots; offset=index×slotBytes Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| offsetBytes | Selected slot byte offset. | integer; minimum: 0 |
| slotIndex | Selected slot index. | integer; minimum: 0 |
| slotCount | Number of complete slots. | integer; minimum: 1 |

No writes, wear counters, recovery records or endurance prediction are performed. Device-page constraints and metadata are not modeled.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Register Field Encoder: Replace an unsigned 32-bit register field using exact integer bit operations and explicit field bounds. For a complementary task, use Integer Clock Divider Finder: Find the bounded positive integer divisor minimizing absolute frequency error, selecting the smaller divisor on a tie.
