Description
Distinguish an unread plate from recorded detection and nondetection.
Microbiology records distinguish experimental roles, unread plates, detected/nondetected results and reporting limits. Logarithmic and linear count-like quantities use different scales, while dilution fractions describe explicit mathematical factors. None of these labels or local conversions verifies an organism, assay, culture condition or safe laboratory procedure.
Distinguish an unread plate from recorded detection and nondetection.
When to use this tool
Use Plate Detected Not Detected Code when you already have plateId, readComplete, detected and need to distinguish an unread plate from recorded detection and nondetection.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter plateId, readComplete, detected. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read status. Use the output convention below.
Require plateId nonempty; reject detected=true when readComplete=false. Return not-read, detected or not-detected.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| plateId | Plate Id | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| readComplete | detected=true requires this flag; an unread plate cannot be labeled detected. | Required. Boolean. |
| detected | Detected | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| status | Status | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- A recorded nondetection is not proof of absence; no plate, organism, method, detection limit or clinical finding is assessed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review actual laboratory observations, control records, reporting basis and the complete analytical method for substantive interpretation. Keep unread and censored states distinct from exact results; supplied dilution or log conversions do not validate the underlying assay.
