Daily Clear Sky Insolation Estimate Calculator
Integrate independently modeled same-day clear-sky irradiance trace, actual covered window only; no hidden solar geometry/cloud transmission model. Caller independently establishes matching units, evidence, method edition and applicability; output is not compliance, diagnosis, work-safety approval, geological identity or validated hazard prediction.
Description
Integrating irradiance over time gives radiant energy per area.
Integrating irradiance over time gives radiant energy per area.1
A daily total needs observations covering the intended day rather than an assumption that a partial sampled window is complete.
When to use Daily Clear Sky Insolation Estimate Calculator
Use this tool to calculate or review the supplied observations under the stated rules. Establish the observation method, units, averaging period and applicable reference or calibration.
How to use Daily Clear Sky Insolation Estimate Calculator and understand its results
- Establish the observation method, units, averaging period and applicable reference or calibration.
- Enter observedDaySampleSeconds, independentlyClearSkyHorizontalIrradianceWM2, using the field meanings and rules below, then run the tool.
- Read observedWindowClearSkyInsolationJM2, using the output meanings and calculation rules below.
- Correct any reported input issue and run again. Before using a successful result, check the stated units, signs, reference scope and observation coverage.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| observedDaySampleSeconds | Observed day sample seconds | list of number | Required |
| independentlyClearSkyHorizontalIrradianceWM2 | Independently clear sky horizontal irradiance w m2 | list of number | Required |
Require at least two aligned time samples strictly increasing in [0,86400] seconds and nonnegative irradiances. Sum trapezoids between consecutive samples and return energy in J/m² over that covered window.
energyJM2=Σ_i (irradiance_i+irradiance_(i+1))/2×(seconds_(i+1)−seconds_i) Use the matching field units and the exact boundary, ordering and reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| observedWindowClearSkyInsolationJM2 | Observed window clear sky insolation j m2 | number |

There is no solar-position, cloud or atmospheric-transmission model. The tool neither extends a partial window to a full day nor adds unobserved energy.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types and violated rules return input issues. Numeric values and outputs must be finite. Lists and matrices must be dense, without missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries; ordinary string lists allow at most 128 strings of 128 UTF-16 units each; numeric matrices allow at most 128 rows and 128 columns, subject to narrower requirements above.
