Porphyrin Pattern
Find excess porphyrin intermediates against caller-provided reference limits.
Description
Porphyrin-pattern screening compares each measured component with its supplied upper limit.
Porphyrin-pattern screening compares each measured component with its supplied upper limit. Fold values make different concentration scales comparable.1
Find excess porphyrin intermediates against caller-provided reference limits.
When to use Porphyrin Pattern
Use this tool to find excess porphyrin intermediates against caller-provided reference limits.
Prepare the measured profile, formula counts, upstream model outputs or caller-defined reference criteria requested. Keep paired entries aligned and units, sample basis and preprocessing consistent.
How to use Porphyrin Pattern and understand its results
- Prepare the measured profile, formula counts, upstream model outputs or caller-defined reference criteria requested. Keep paired entries aligned and units, sample basis and preprocessing consistent.
- Enter porphyrinNames, measuredLevels, referenceUpperLimits using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read elevatedNames, maximumExcessFold, peakIntermediate. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| porphyrinNames | Porphyrin names | list of string | Required |
| measuredLevels | Measured levels | list of number | Required |
| referenceUpperLimits | Reference upper limits | list of number | Required |
Enter nonempty aligned names, nonnegative levels and positive upper limits. Flag folds strictly above one; return elevated names, maximum fold and first name attaining that maximum. The maximum may be below one.
fold_i=level_i/upper_i Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| elevatedNames | Elevated names | list of string |
| maximumExcessFold | Maximum excess fold | number |
| peakIntermediate | Peak intermediate | string |

Names need not be unique. This is a caller-defined reference comparison, not a diagnosis or identification of a metabolic disorder.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Urea Cycle Marker Screen: Cross-check urea-cycle markers against user-selected screening cutoffs. For a complementary task, use Pooled QC Cv Gate: Gate pooled metabolomics QC by coefficient of variation.
