Description
Calculate dialogue share within supplied dialogue and non-speech durations.
Media records distinguish credited roles, permission labels, source versions, viewing-time overlap and platform rating scales. Simultaneous exposure must be counted once for union time, while normalized ratings remain positions on supplied scales. A recorded production or publication label does not verify authenticity, attention or rights.
Calculate dialogue share within supplied dialogue and non-speech durations.
When to use this tool
Use Screen Dialogue Non Speech Duration Pair when you already have dialogueSeconds, nonSpeechSeconds and need to calculate dialogue share within supplied dialogue and non-speech durations.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter dialogueSeconds, nonSpeechSeconds. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read totalSeconds, dialogueShare. Use the output convention below.
Require both durations>=0 and their sum>0; return the sum and dialogue/sum.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| dialogueSeconds | Dialogue Seconds | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| nonSpeechSeconds | Non Speech Seconds | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| totalSeconds | Total Seconds | Required. Finite number. |
| dialogueShare | Dialogue Share | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Assumes categories are nonoverlapping and exhaustive for this denominator; no media is analyzed and no speech classification is verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect the original program, source record, credit and permission documentation when attribution or publication matters. Use the complete diary or rating methodology for audience analysis, preserving overlap, scale and denominator definitions.
