Struve Function Approximation
Evaluate Struve H_ν real power series for integer order 0..5 and x∈[0,20]; fixed family/order convention, bounded convergence, no ambiguous unnamed special function.
Description
Struve Hν is a particular special-function family with an alternating power series.
Struve Hν is a particular special-function family with an alternating power series. Naming the family and order avoids ambiguity with modified Struve functions.1, 2
Evaluate Struve H_ν real power series for integer order 0..5 and x∈[0,20]; fixed family/order convention, bounded convergence, no ambiguous unnamed special function.
When to use Struve Function Approximation
Use this tool to evaluate Struve H_ν real power series for integer order 0..5 and x∈[0,20]; fixed family/order convention, bounded convergence, no ambiguous unnamed special function.
Choose the integer, sequence, coefficients or function parameters for your calculation. Follow the stated ordering, domain and size limits.
How to use Struve Function Approximation and understand its results
- Choose the integer, sequence, coefficients or function parameters for your calculation. Follow the stated ordering, domain and size limits.
- Enter order, x using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read struveHValue. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| order | Order | number | Required |
| x | X | number | Required |
Use integer order 0–5 and x in [0,20]. Start the series with log-gamma evaluation, update terms recursively and stop when a term is below 10⁻¹⁶ times max(1,|sum|), within 200 iterations. x=0 returns zero; nonconvergence is rejected.
Hν(x) = Σ[k≥0](−1)^k(x/2)^(2k+ν+1)/[Γ(k+3/2)Γ(k+ν+3/2)] Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| struveHValue | Struve h value | number |

} Limitations and assumptions
This real bounded approximation does not provide complex continuation or a certified total error bound.
Numeric inputs and returned numeric values must be finite; an unrepresentable returned value produces an error. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Bessel J0 Approximation: Evaluate real Bessel J0 by bounded convergent power series on |x|≤20; outside-series regime refused rather than an unstated asymptotic formula. For a complementary task, use Hypergeometric 2F1 Approximation: Compute finite Gauss 2F1(a,b;c;x) power series with explicit included term count, last term and observed numerator termination; denominator poles rejected, last term is not a tail bound or convergence certificate.
