Description
Compare leftValue and rightValue exactly.
A run is a consecutive group of equal values. Its internal adjacencies and boundary relationships differ from counts of distinct values across a whole list.
Compare leftValue and rightValue exactly.
When to use this tool
Use List Run Length One Boundary Update when you need one run boundary or adjacency calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter leftValue, leftLength, rightValue, rightLength. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read merged, lengths. Inspect merged before interpreting the associated values.
Compare leftValue and rightValue exactly. Equal values merge their positive lengths into one entry; unequal values retain the two lengths separately.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| leftValue | Left Value | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| leftLength | Left Length | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| rightValue | Right Value | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| rightLength | Right Length | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| merged | Merged | Required. Boolean. |
| lengths | Lengths | Required. Array of safe integer; maximum items 256. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This examines one boundary, not a complete run-length encoding or value normalization.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete run-length scan when maximal runs and their values need to be constructed or verified.
