Library Hold Expiry Offset Tool

Add an explicit calendar-day hold interval to a ready date; the ready day is offset zero and no opening-day calendar is assumed.

Description

Parse readyDate, add integer holdDays in 0-36500 with UTC date arithmetic, and reject results beyond year 9999.

Calendar-day differences need real dates and a stated time basis. Fixed clock offsets, supplied working-day lists, and Gregorian date arithmetic answer different questions.

Parse readyDate, add integer holdDays in 0-36500 with UTC date arithmetic, and reject results beyond year 9999.

When to use this tool

Use Library Hold Expiry Offset when you need explicit day or clock arithmetic with known inputs.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter readyDate, holdDays. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read expiryDate. Use the output convention below.

Parse readyDate, add integer holdDays in 0-36500 with UTC date arithmetic, and reject results beyond year 9999. Return expiryDate.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is a supplied calendar-day offset without closure-day exclusions, time-of-day, or a library's actual hold-expiry policy.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use an authoritative calendar and timezone source when holidays, local dates, or civil-time transitions matter.
