Description
Divide signed elevation change by station distance and multiply by 100 for gradePercent.
Simple site geometry approximates an area, section, or volume using ideal shapes. Coherent length units and the distinction between signed and unsigned quantities determine the result's meaning.
Divide signed elevation change by station distance and multiply by 100 for gradePercent.
When to use this tool
Use Landscape Slope Station Grade when you need one transparent landscape geometry component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter startStation, endStation, startElevation, endElevation. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read gradePercent. Use the output convention below.
Require endStation > startStation. Divide signed elevation change by station distance and multiply by 100 for gradePercent.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| startStation | Start Station | Required. Finite number. |
| endStation | End Station | Required. Finite number. |
| startElevation | Start Elevation | Required. Finite number. |
| endElevation | End Elevation | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| gradePercent | Grade Percent | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Stations must represent horizontal distance in the same length unit as elevations; this is percent grade, not degrees or an accessibility verdict.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a surveyed terrain or construction model when irregular shapes, settlement, drainage, and structural performance matter.
