Swim Golf Score
Compute per-lap SWOLF from seconds plus strokes, for like-for-like lap distances.
Description
SWOLF adds lap duration in seconds to stroke count.
SWOLF adds lap duration in seconds to stroke count. It is most useful for comparable pool lengths and stroke-count conventions.1
Compute per-lap SWOLF from seconds plus strokes, for like-for-like lap distances.
When to use Swim Golf Score
Use this tool to compute per-lap SWOLF from seconds plus strokes, for like-for-like lap distances.
Prepare the measured movement, timing, load or preassigned score requested. Keep protocols, units, paired measurements and caller-selected thresholds consistent.
How to use Swim Golf Score and understand its results
- Prepare the measured movement, timing, load or preassigned score requested. Keep protocols, units, paired measurements and caller-selected thresholds consistent.
- Enter lapTimesSeconds, strokeCounts using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read lapSwolfScores, meanSwolf. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| lapTimesSeconds | Lap times seconds | list of number | Required |
| strokeCounts | Stroke counts | list of number | Required |
Enter nonempty aligned positive lap times and nonnegative safe integer stroke counts. Return ordered lap scores and arithmetic mean.
lapScore=timeSeconds+strokes; mean=Σscores/n Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| lapSwolfScores | Lap swolf scores | list of number |
| meanSwolf | Mean swolf | number |

Pool distance, stroke type and swimming quality are not checked. The mixed-unit score is a convention, not mechanical efficiency.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Rowing Drive-to-Recovery Ratio: Calculate rowing drive-to-recovery ratio from the supplied measurements. For a complementary task, use Dolphin Kick Wave Screen: Compare measured dolphin-kick amplitude and frequency with caller-supplied ranges.
