HRV Rolling Baseline
Compare current HRV with the prior seven-day mean and caller tolerance.
Description
An HRV baseline screen compares the current value with a lower bound derived from seven prior values.
An HRV baseline screen compares the current value with a lower bound derived from seven prior values. The allowable drop is a supplied fraction.1
Compare current HRV with the prior seven-day mean and caller tolerance.
When to use HRV Rolling Baseline
Use this tool to compare current HRV with the prior seven-day mean and caller tolerance.
Prepare the measured movement, timing, load or preassigned score requested. Keep protocols, units, paired measurements and caller-selected thresholds consistent.
How to use HRV Rolling Baseline and understand its results
- Prepare the measured movement, timing, load or preassigned score requested. Keep protocols, units, paired measurements and caller-selected thresholds consistent.
- Enter baselineHrvMs, currentHrvMs, allowedDropFraction using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read baselineMeanMs, lowerBoundMs, belowBaseline. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| baselineHrvMs | Baseline hrv ms | list of number | Required |
| currentHrvMs | Current hrv ms | number | Required |
| allowedDropFraction | Allowed drop fraction | number | Required |
Enter exactly seven positive baseline ms values, positive current ms and fraction in [0,1). Return mean, lower bound and strict current<lower flag.
mean=Σ7baseline/7; lower=mean(1−dropFraction) Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| baselineMeanMs | Baseline mean ms | number |
| lowerBoundMs | Lower bound ms | number |
| belowBaseline | Below baseline | boolean |

No HRV metric extraction, artifact correction, readiness decision or individual cutoff calibration is provided.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Deload Trigger Screen: Flag caller-defined recovery or load conditions for a deload discussion. For a complementary task, use Fitness Fatigue Balance: Update caller-calibrated fitness and fatigue states from a daily training load.
