Description
Normalize siderealLongitudeDegrees from 0-360 into [0, 360).
A rashi position divides a supplied sidereal longitude into twelve equal zodiac spans in a traditional astrological system. It is a coordinate classification, not a scientific prediction.
Normalize siderealLongitudeDegrees from 0-360 into [0, 360).
When to use this tool
Use Jyotish Rashi and Degree Calculator when you need a traditional sign ordinal from an already established sidereal longitude.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter siderealLongitudeDegrees. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.
Normalize siderealLongitudeDegrees from 0-360 into [0, 360). Divide into twelve 30-degree spans for a one-based rashiOrdinal and return the remainder within the span.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| result | Result | Required. Object. |
| result.rashiOrdinal | Rashi Ordinal | Calculated result member: number. |
| result.withinSignDegrees | Within Sign Degrees | Calculated result member: number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The sidereal longitude is supplied rather than calculated; this traditional classification is not a scientific prediction or a basis for consequential decisions.
- Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Keep the longitude and reference convention explicit, and use astronomical methods when physical celestial positions are needed.
