Quran Citation Surah Range Boundary Tool

Check an explicit inclusive Quran verse range against a caller-supplied surah verse count without choosing a numbering tradition or lookup table.

Description

Label a supplied verse range and compare its end with a supplied verse count.

Textual and archival references depend on the collection, edition, numbering system, date convention and source attribution. A supplied surah/ayah or manuscript partition number is a locator, not verification of canonical limits or content. Permission, beneficiary shares and direction labels require their stated documentary context.

Label a supplied verse range and compare its end with a supplied verse count.

When to use this tool

Use Quran Citation Surah Range Boundary when you already have surahLabel, firstVerse, lastVerse, suppliedVerseCount and need to label a supplied verse range and compare its end with a supplied verse count.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter surahLabel, firstVerse, lastVerse, suppliedVerseCount. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read citationKey, selectedVerseCount, withinSuppliedCount. Inspect withinSuppliedCount before interpreting the associated values.

Require surahLabel nonempty and safe whole 1<=first<=last with suppliedVerseCount>=1; return JSON key, inclusive count last-first+1 and last<=suppliedCount.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • An out-of-range end returns a false flag, not an input error; no actual surah length, edition or interpretive authority is determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult the relevant original edition, manuscript, deed or stated authority for an interpretive or rights question. Use a complete calendar, directional or distribution method when computation is required; local locators and supplied labels do not infer those rules.
