Description
Return sqrt(first) × sqrt(second) for strictly positive endpoints.
Log-linear interpolation takes an arithmetic blend in logarithmic coordinates, giving a geometric blend on the original positive scale. Zero and negative values need a different model.
Return sqrt(first) × sqrt(second) for strictly positive endpoints.
When to use this tool
Use Log Linear Midpoint Geometric Value when you need a positive-scale geometric midpoint.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter first, second. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read midpoint. Use the output convention below.
Return sqrt(first) × sqrt(second) for strictly positive endpoints.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| first | First value or boundary under the stated formula. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| second | Second value or boundary under the stated formula. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| midpoint | Midpoint | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This is the geometric midpoint for log-linear interpolation; negative or zero values are rejected and no arbitrary interpolation fraction is supplied.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a full transformed interpolation method with a declared domain and parameter when evaluating other positions.
