Description

Subtract currentDay from expiryDay for remainingDays.

Treaty and diplomatic records contain dates, party categories, and explicitly defined term boundaries. Arithmetic can check chronology and counts without determining the legal effect of an instrument.

Subtract currentDay from expiryDay for remainingDays.

When to use this tool

Use Diplomatic Term Expiry Offset when you need a source-record chronology or party-count check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter currentDay, expiryDay, expiryIncluded. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read remainingDays, inTermUnderEndRule. Inspect inTermUnderEndRule before interpreting the associated values.

Subtract currentDay from expiryDay for remainingDays. Compare currentDay with expiryDay using ≤ when expiryIncluded is true, otherwise <.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The flag checks only an end rule and has no start-date condition; actual appointment status and legal expiry rules are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult the authoritative instrument, depositary records, and qualified legal interpretation for actual status or obligations.
