Freight Insurance CIF FOB Bridge Tool

Cost bridge with an explicit insurance basis; insured-on-CIF solves the circular premium algebra and does not choose Incoterms obligations.

Description

Let base be fobValue + freight and r be insuranceRate × coverageUplift, requiring r < 1.

Trade-finance arithmetic combines supplied fees, exchange factors, timing windows, and reporting bases. A local consistency result does not establish document compliance, contract rights, or bank acceptance.

Let base be fobValue + freight and r be insuranceRate × coverageUplift, requiring r < 1.

When to use this tool

Use Freight Insurance CIF FOB Bridge when you need one transparent cross-border cost or timing component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter fobValue, freight, insuranceRate, coverageUplift, insuredOnCif. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read insurance, cifValue. Use the output convention below.

Let base be fobValue + freight and r be insuranceRate × coverageUplift, requiring r < 1. If insuredOnCif, return insurance base·r/(1-r) and CIF base/(1-r); otherwise return insurance base·r and CIF base·(1+r).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Coverage uplift is a multiplier, for example 1.1 rather than 0.1 for 110%; policy terms, insurable value, and trade obligations are not selected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the complete transaction, contract, bank terms, and applicable accounting policies before acting on a partial calculation.
