Telematics UBI Discount Scorer

Score actual independently normalized telematics metrics under caller weights/calibrated score→discount curve; interpolated bps round to whole bps before exact premium rounding, no proprietary insurer model or driver safety conclusion.

Description

A telematics score needs consistently normalized metrics and verified discount calibration.

A telematics score needs consistently normalized metrics and verified discount calibration. Weight normalization and two rounding stages affect the result.1

The returned values include Caller weighted penalty score, Caller interpolated discount basis points, Caller rounded ubi discount minor. The How section below explains the calculation, input rules and interpretation.

When to use Telematics UBI Discount Scorer

Use Telematics UBI Discount Scorer when you need to evaluate the supplied records under the calculation and evidence rules below. No proprietary insurer model, driver-safety conclusion or universal discount is supplied.

Prepare the observed policy, claim or quote evidence and independently verified policy tables. Monetary fields use integer minor units in one currency: for a currency with 100 minor units per major unit, enter 12345 for 123.45. One basis point is 0.01 percentage points, so 10000 basis points represents 100%.

How to use Telematics UBI Discount Scorer and understand its results

  2. Enter callerTelematicsMetricIds, observedCallerNormalizedPenaltyScores, callerMetricWeights, callerDiscountScoreKnots, callerDiscountBasisPointKnots, callerBaseAnnualPremiumMinor using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read callerWeightedPenaltyScore, callerInterpolatedDiscountBasisPoints, callerRoundedUbiDiscountMinor. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

Enter aligned nonempty unique nonblank metric IDs, score fractions 0–1 and nonnegative weights with positive total. Supply aligned calibration lists with at least two strictly increasing finite score knots and integer discount basis points 0–10000, plus integer premium 0–10¹². Interpolate only in range, return score and fractional interpolated basis points, then round basis points to nearest integer before exact monetary rounding.

score=sum(normalizedWeight×penalty); bps=interpolate(score); discount=roundMinor(premium×round(bps)/10000)

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

No proprietary insurer model, driver-safety conclusion or universal discount is supplied.

Numeric inputs, where present, must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 10,000 entries; string lists to 128 strings of at most 128 characters each. The rules above may impose smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Speeding Points Premium Percent Lookup: Speeding-point premium adjustment depends on a verified insurer tier table. Lower-inclusive edges define when a surcharge changes. For a complementary task, use Credit Based Insurance Score Tier Lookup: Credit-based insurance rating uses its own supplied score tiers. A consumer credit score conversion is not built into this calculation.
