Metadata Obligation Missing Count Tool

Count explicit metadata obligations without inferring a cataloging standard.

Description

Select requiredFields absent from presentFields, deduplicate in first-occurrence order, and return missingFields and missingCount.

Metadata obligations and relations apply to a declared record scope. Field presence, source coverage, cardinality, and value correctness are independent properties.

Select requiredFields absent from presentFields, deduplicate in first-occurrence order, and return missingFields and missingCount.

When to use this tool

Use Metadata Obligation Missing Count when you need a narrow metadata consistency or coverage check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter requiredFields, presentFields. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read missingCount, missingFields. Use the output convention below.

Select requiredFields absent from presentFields, deduplicate in first-occurrence order, and return missingFields and missingCount.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Literal field presence does not verify values, conditional obligations, or a complete metadata standard.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Apply the complete metadata profile and inspect field values and provenance before accepting a record.
