Description
Update tool-use counts and compare with a supplied use limit.
Production quantities distinguish planned time, operating time, setup, cycle time, demand, first-pass good units and accepted rework. A local availability term is not complete OEE, and equal time-per-unit arithmetic is not measured capacity. Counts and durations must share one nonoverlapping accounting scope.
Update tool-use counts and compare with a supplied use limit.
When to use this tool
Use Tool Wear Use Count Balance when you already have openingUses, addedUses, suppliedUseLimit and need to update tool-use counts and compare with a supplied use limit.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter openingUses, addedUses, suppliedUseLimit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read totalUses, remainingUses, exceedsLimit. Inspect exceedsLimit before interpreting the associated values.
Require nonnegative safe whole opening/additional/limit counts; total=opening+added, remaining=limit-total and exceedsLimit means total>limit.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| openingUses | Opening Uses | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| addedUses | Added Uses | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| suppliedUseLimit | Supplied Use Limit | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| totalUses | Total Uses | Required. Safe integer. |
| remainingUses | Remaining Uses | Required. Safe integer. |
| exceedsLimit | Exceeds Limit | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Unsafe integer outputs are rejected. A supplied use limit and count do not establish wear, fitness, maintenance needs or safe operation.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the full time study, production ledger and process definition before interpreting performance. Use a complete capacity, OEE or workflow analysis when bottlenecks, quality, concurrency and operating constraints matter beyond one local term.
