Description
Move movedToExternal out of internal time, subtract the two eliminated-time terms from their respective pools, and return downtimeReduction as moved plus eliminated internal time.
Work-time accounting separates productive time, allowances, overlap, and delays. Changing the allowance denominator or moving work outside downtime changes the interpretation of a calculated time.
Move movedToExternal out of internal time, subtract the two eliminated-time terms from their respective pools, and return downtimeReduction as moved plus eliminated internal time.
When to use this tool
Use Machine Changeover Internal External Time when you need one explicit work-element or timing component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter internalBefore, externalBefore, movedToExternal, eliminatedInternal, eliminatedExternal. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read internalAfter, externalAfter, downtimeReduction, totalReduction. Use the output convention below.
Move movedToExternal out of internal time, subtract the two eliminated-time terms from their respective pools, and return downtimeReduction as moved plus eliminated internal time. Return totalReduction as both eliminated terms only.1

| movedToExternal | Moved To External | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| eliminatedInternal | Eliminated Internal | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| eliminatedExternal | Eliminated External | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |

| internalAfter | Internal After | Required. Finite number. |
| externalAfter | External After | Required. Finite number. |
| downtimeReduction | Downtime Reduction | Required. Finite number. |
| totalReduction | Total Reduction | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Moving work changes downtime but does not itself reduce total work; no staffing, safe procedure, or overlap feasibility is verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
