Changeover Sequence Cost Edge Tool

Resolve one directed changeover cost from an explicit caller-supplied edge table.

Description

Find the exact fromFamily/toFamily pair, returning its cost and found true, or defaultCost and found false.

Production cost models separate setup, fixed, variable, and transition costs. A break-even intersection or amortized unit cost reflects supplied linear assumptions.

Find the exact fromFamily/toFamily pair, returning its cost and found true, or defaultCost and found false.

When to use this tool

Use Changeover Sequence Cost Edge when you need one explicit production cost or transition term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter fromFamily, toFamily, fromKeys, toKeys, suppliedCosts, defaultCost. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read found, cost. Inspect found before interpreting the associated values.

Require aligned unique ordered family-pair keys and suppliedCosts. Find the exact fromFamily/toFamily pair, returning its cost and found true, or defaultCost and found false.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Costs may be signed and direction matters; a fallback is not a verified transition cost or an optimized production sequence.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Compare complete feasible production options and include demand uncertainty, capacity, and accounting conventions.
