Tactile Marker Reference Height Ratio Tool

Compare supplied heights from a common substrate reference without selecting an accessibility standard.

Description

Subtract substrateOffset from markerHeight for relativeHeight and divide by positive referenceHeight.

A supplied reach envelope, force arm, or hand-clearance dimension is a geometric input rather than a population-based ergonomic standard. Users and operating conditions can vary substantially.

Subtract substrateOffset from markerHeight for relativeHeight and divide by positive referenceHeight.

When to use this tool

Use Tactile Marker Reference Height Ratio when you need one explicit human-interface geometry or force term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter markerHeight, referenceHeight, substrateOffset. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read relativeHeight, ratio. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative relative height is permitted; units must match and no tactile accessibility or readability criterion is applied.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use an appropriate ergonomic and accessibility assessment with representative users and actual operating conditions.
