Hinge Stop Angle Clearance Margin Tool

Angular slack in consistent supplied units; no mechanical operating limit is chosen.

Description

Subtract requiredAngle from stopAngle for nominalMargin, then subtract nonnegative tolerance for worstMargin.

A tolerance allowance bounds a geometric variation under a declared sensitivity and combination rule. Worst-case bounds and statistical root-sum-square terms need different assumptions.

Subtract requiredAngle from stopAngle for nominalMargin, then subtract nonnegative tolerance for worstMargin.

When to use this tool

Use Hinge Stop Angle Clearance Margin when you need one explicit tolerance contribution or worst-margin calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter stopAngle, requiredAngle, tolerance. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read nominalMargin, worstMargin. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Angles must use one unit; tolerance is supplied and no mechanical stop strength, collision analysis, or compliance is evaluated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Build the complete tolerance model and justify distributions, dependencies, and operating conditions before using an aggregate limit.
