Reservoir Volume Mark Residual Tool

Compare supplied local linear level/volume calibration with a recorded volume without inferring reservoir shape or nutrient needs.

Description

Multiply levelReading-zeroLevel by positive suppliedVolumePerLevel for derivedVolume, then return recordedVolume minus derivedVolume.

A level reading is measured relative to an origin or datum. Adding an offset can express the same supplied observation in another compatible coordinate, while changing the reference label alone does not transform a datum.

Multiply levelReading-zeroLevel by positive suppliedVolumePerLevel for derivedVolume, then return recordedVolume minus derivedVolume.

When to use this tool

Use Reservoir Volume Mark Residual when you need one signed level, datum, or reference comparison.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter levelReading, suppliedVolumePerLevel, zeroLevel, recordedVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read derivedVolume, residual. Use the output convention below.

Multiply levelReading-zeroLevel by positive suppliedVolumePerLevel for derivedVolume, then return recordedVolume minus derivedVolume.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The factor is volume per height unit; signed derived volumes are allowed, and this linear calibration term does not establish actual tank geometry or sensor accuracy.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify the survey references, measurement direction, and calibration before using levels in an operational decision.
