Description
Multiply nonnegative length by signed slope for heightDifference and subtract it from inletHeight for outletHeight.
Flow calculations relate volume, time, cross-section, velocity, and supplied model parameters. A local ratio or contribution does not by itself solve a complete hydraulic system.
Multiply nonnegative length by signed slope for heightDifference and subtract it from inletHeight for outletHeight.
When to use this tool
Use NFT Channel Grade End Height Term when you need one explicit flow component with coherent units and references.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter length, slope, inletHeight. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read heightDifference, outletHeight. Use the output convention below.
Multiply nonnegative length by signed slope for heightDifference and subtract it from inletHeight for outletHeight.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| length | Length on the common unit basis stated above. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| slope | Signed drop divided by run as a dimensionless fraction, not percent or degrees. | Required. Finite number. |
| inletHeight | Inlet Height | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| heightDifference | Height Difference | Required. Finite number. |
| outletHeight | Outlet Height | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Slope is dimensionless drop/run, not degrees or percent; length and elevation use compatible units and this does not calculate flow capacity.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use surveyed geometry, appropriate calibration, and a complete hydraulic model for operational or design decisions.
