Growbed Flood Drain Volume Share Tool

Calculate growbed flood drain volume share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Multiply nonnegative grossBedVolume by one minus solidFraction for poreVolume, then by drainedFraction for drainableVolume, with both fractions in [0, 1].

Ideal water-storage and channel geometry uses dimensions, areas, and displacement fractions. Coherent length units determine areas and volumes; actual irregular geometry and hydraulic behavior require additional information.

Multiply nonnegative grossBedVolume by one minus solidFraction for poreVolume, then by drainedFraction for drainableVolume, with both fractions in [0, 1].

When to use this tool

Use Growbed Flood Drain Volume Share when you need one explicit geometric component of a tank, bed, conduit, or channel.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter grossBedVolume, solidFraction, drainedFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read poreVolume, drainableVolume. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Fractions are supplied rather than measured; ideal pore accounting does not model trapped water, hysteresis, roots, or actual drainage performance.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the full surveyed geometry and the physical model before interpreting storage, capacity, or safe operation.
