Description
Multiply nonnegative panDepth by panCoefficient for estimatedDepth and by openWaterArea for estimatedVolume.
Precipitation and evaporation records distinguish water depth, catchment area, volume, and observation duration. Converting among them requires coherent units and a clear measured or modeled basis.
Multiply nonnegative panDepth by panCoefficient for estimatedDepth and by openWaterArea for estimatedVolume.
When to use this tool
Use Evaporimeter Pan Coefficient One Day when you need one explicit water-depth, volume, or accumulation component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter panDepth, panCoefficient, openWaterArea. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read estimatedDepth, estimatedVolume. Use the output convention below.

} Limitations and assumptions
- Depth and area must be coherent length units for volume; panCoefficient is supplied and no meteorological adjustment, fetch effect, or evaporation model is inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check instrument records, unit conversions, temporal coverage, and a complete hydrologic model before interpreting runoff or water availability.
