Description
Double oneWayFare and multiply by weeklyVisits for cash cost.
Generalized travel cost combines supplied cash charges with a monetary valuation of time. Its meaning depends on the time basis, wage or opportunity value, and which costs are included.
Double oneWayFare and multiply by weeklyVisits for cash cost.
When to use this tool
Use Community Access Travel Cost Income Share when you need one stated travel-cost comparison or valuation component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter oneWayFare, weeklyVisits, paidTravelHoursPerVisit, hourlyOpportunityCost, weeklyIncome. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read weeklyCashCost, weeklyGeneralizedCost, incomeShare. Use the output convention below.
Double oneWayFare and multiply by weeklyVisits for cash cost. Add per-visit paidTravelHoursPerVisit times hourlyOpportunityCost before multiplying by visits, then divide by positive weeklyIncome.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- All inputs are nonnegative and use one currency; the time input is already per visit and is not doubled. Income share can exceed one and is not an affordability threshold.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Keep actual payments separate from modeled time values and review the complete costing assumptions.
