meter optimum low/high Band Classifier

Classifies a meter value against caller-supplied normalized min/low/high/max bounds and optimum. Value and optimum are clamped; optimum on a low/high boundary selects the middle optimum region.

Description

Meter describes a scalar measurement with preferred and less desirable ranges.

Meter describes a scalar measurement with preferred and less desirable ranges. The optimum’s position determines how low/high bands are interpreted.1

Classifies a meter value against caller-supplied normalized min/low/high/max bounds and optimum. Value and optimum are clamped; optimum on a low/high boundary selects the middle optimum region.

When to use meter optimum low/high Band Classifier

Use this for the following task: Classifies a meter value against caller-supplied normalized min/low/high/max bounds and optimum. Value and optimum are clamped; optimum on a low/high boundary selects the middle optimum region.

Prepare the parsed attribute values, element states or ordered local lists requested below. Keep attribute presence separate from value.

How to use meter optimum low/high Band Classifier and understand its results

  1. Prepare the parsed attribute values, element states or ordered local lists requested below. Keep attribute presence separate from value.
  2. Enter value, min, low, high, max, optimum using the field table, then run the tool.
  3. Read effectiveValue, effectiveOptimum, band. Interpret flags, units, ordering and placeholder values using the rules below.
  4. Review any reported issue or failed check, correct the supplied values when appropriate, and verify the result in its intended context.

Require min ≤ low ≤ high ≤ max. If optimum is below low or above high, classify the nearest outer band as optimum and the opposite outer band as least-good. With optimum on or inside low/high, the inclusive middle band is optimum.2

effectiveValue = clamp(value,min,max); effectiveOptimum = clamp(optimum,min,max)

This summarizes the declared operation. Units, indexing, inclusivity and exceptional cases are explained in the surrounding text.

Limitations and assumptions

Caller supplies normalized bounds. This does not derive missing attribute defaults or explain whether a real-world reading is healthy.

This evaluates supplied local information; it does not fetch a page or run a browser. Malformed requests produce input errors. A successfully evaluated request can still contain false flags, empty result lists or a result outside the supplied threshold; those outcomes have the meanings stated above.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Choose progress value/max Percent for this operation: Resolves progress from parsed value/max: absent value is indeterminate, nonpositive max defaults to 1, and value is clamped into [0,max]. Indeterminate percent is represented as 0 with its explicit flag. For a complementary task, use min/max/step Number Input Semantics for this operation: Checks parsed number-input min/max and step constraints using exact decimal arithmetic on the canonical decimal spelling of supplied finite numbers. Supply normalized positive step (default 1) and attribute presence flags; this is an ideal decimal model, independent of browser binary floating point tolerances.
