Description
Add nonnegative unservedMass and plateWasteMass, requiring their sum within preparedMass.
Hospitality plans use room counts, covers, service durations, portions, and stock balances. A local component applies supplied operational rules without confirming actual availability, service quality, or adequate capacity.
Add nonnegative unservedMass and plateWasteMass, requiring their sum within preparedMass.
When to use this tool
Use Buffet Food Waste Per Attendee when you need one explicit hospitality planning or reconciliation component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter preparedMass, unservedMass, plateWasteMass, attendees. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read wasteMass, wastePerAttendee, consumedMass. Use the output convention below.
Add nonnegative unservedMass and plateWasteMass, requiring their sum within preparedMass. Divide by positive integer attendees and subtract waste from prepared mass for consumedMass.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| preparedMass | Prepared Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| unservedMass | Unserved Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| plateWasteMass | Plate Waste Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| attendees | Attendees | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| wasteMass | Waste Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| wastePerAttendee | Waste Per Attendee | Required. Finite number. |
| consumedMass | Consumed Mass | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Masses share units and one service scope; consumedMass is an accounting remainder rather than observed intake or a nutrition assessment.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check the complete booking, layout, staffing, and service plan before relying on an operational estimate.
